A PSP memory card is a device used to store data and run software and emulators for a PSP gaming device. The card is designed to store a wide variety of data files, most commonly MP3 music files and digital video files, which are uploaded onto the memory card by the user by connecting the PSP USB cable to the computer and to the PSP system.
The PSP memory card is usually small in size measuring 20 x 31 x 1.6 mm. The PSP has wireless capabilities which allow it to access Wi-Fi networks, making it possible to download files directly to the PSP for storage on the memory card.
Following are the main advantages or uses of a PSP memory card:
Enables users to store data into their PSP memory
Allows users to watch movies and listen to music on their PSP by moving these files from their computer to their PSP memory card.
Allows users with access to wireless internet to download files from the internet to their PSP memory card.
Also stores downloaded or saved game files and game profiles.
However, MPEG-4 video formats are not accepted by a PSP memory card. Also some file formats may not function properly on the PSP even if they successfully transfer to the PSP memory stick.
Today the 2GB and 4 GB versions of the card are also available in the market by Sony. The Price or cost of a PSP memory stick varies depending on the retailer, memory capacity and memory stick features.
